Regulatory requirements
As a business owner, your business operates within a framework of federal, state and local regulations and by-laws.
Many of these existing regulations reduce individual and industry environmental impacts. Ignoring your environmental obligations can place your business in jeopardy.
Around the world there is agreement that we should work together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Australia is responding by introducing new regulations to reduce Australia’s carbon footprint. Australia’s emissions trading scheme, known as the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS), is scheduled to pass through the Australian Parliament in 2009.
While small business will not have their activities regulated by the CPRS, there will be implications for all business with increases to fuel and energy costs; supply chain and consumer pressure.
Now is the time to get ahead of the curve and minimise the risk of your business and your workforce getting left behind.
Did you know?
NSW industry has to reduce its carbon emissions by 5% by the year 2020 to align with the obligations of the Kyoto Protocol, which the Australian Government signed in 2007.
